I think, traditionally, Israeli writers tell the story of the group, of the collective. You have the kibbutz stories, the army stories -- basically [you] take these people who come from different countries and try to create a whole out of them. In that sense, when I started writing, I felt that there was a kind of resentment from [the] older generation of readers and writers. Like, 'We're trying to put something together and you're working against us."
